Siemens SIMATIC SM 521 digital input modules provide digital signal acquisition for SIMATIC S7-1500 and ET 200MP automation systems.

The SM 521 family provides a range of digital input configurations for connecting switches, proximity sensors, contacts and other field devices to the automation system. Available variants support different channel densities, signal voltages and input characteristics, including 24 V DC, 230 V AC, NAMUR and wide-range UC applications.

Depending on the selected module, functionality ranges from cost-effective Basic (BA) digital input acquisition to High Feature (HF) capabilities such as parameterizable input delays, diagnostics, hardware interrupts and integrated counting functions. Selected variants also support specialized functions such as isochronous operation, pulse stretching and chatter monitoring.
