SIEMENS - SIMATIC S7-1500 / ET 200MP - SM 531 Analog Input Modules

The Siemens SIMATIC SM 531 range provides high-performance analog input expansion for SIMATIC S7-1500 and ET 200MP automation systems, enabling the acquisition and processing of continuous electrical and process signals from industrial sensors, transmitters and measurement devices.

Depending on the selected module, the SM 531 family supports voltage, current, resistance, resistance-temperature detector (RTD), thermocouple (TC), and other specialised analog measurement applications, with different channel densities, accuracy classes, resolutions and performance capabilities.

The range extends from cost-effective Basic (BA) and Standard (ST) modules through High Feature (HF) and High Speed (HS) variants designed for applications requiring increased measurement accuracy, advanced diagnostics, faster acquisition, oversampling, calibration or enhanced temperature measurement functionality.

SM 531 modules integrate directly with the S7-1500 central I/O architecture and can also operate as distributed I/O through compatible ET 200MP interface modules. Engineering and parameterisation are performed through STEP 7 / TIA Portal, with supported functions varying by module and including diagnostics, hardware interrupts, configurable measurement ranges, smoothing, wire-break detection, channel monitoring, MSI, isochronous operation, oversampling and calibration.

The modular architecture allows the appropriate SM 531 variant to be selected according to the required signal type, channel count, measurement accuracy, conversion performance, isolation requirements and application environment.
